“On 13 February 1772 it was ordered that, from 10pm, the doors must be closed so that at the given hour the Christian people who were employed in the Ghetto must leave; furthermore, to ensure no Christians remained in the Ghetto overnight, it was forbidden to take on or keep any Christian nurse without express permission, and this permission would not be granted without an appropriate medical certificate. It was also forbidden to keep Christians on holy days beyond the hours necessary for domestic work.”
